Neosho High School Safe Room
The Neosho school district urgently needed classroom space to replace the multiple modular units crowding their high school campus. The solution was a creative addition to their existing high school building in the form of a FEMA Tornado Safe Room. A 1,600 student population dictated that the FEMA Tornado Safe Room would be a massive 14,000 sf facility. By designing the protective shell as a linear, 2-story bar located at the front face of the existing high school, Neosho has created a new image for their school district, alleviated the classroom shortage, and provided a safe location for all of their students to seek shelter from within the building.
