Joplin Library Safe Room

The Joplin Library, through the City of Joplin’s vision to rebuild the area destroyed by the May 2011 tornado, embarked on the design of a new modern 21st-century Library Facility. As part of the beautiful new facility, a safe room for the patrons, staff and surrounding community was incorporated into the new building serving not only as a safe haven for wind events but as flexible and functional meeting rooms on a day to day basis.
