A Focus on Library Design

At Sapp Design Architects, we believe libraries are more than buildings—they are the heart of a community, fostering lifelong learning, connection, and innovation. With nearly 40 library projects completed across the Midwest in the past five years, we specialize in designing dynamic, community-centered spaces that are accessible, adaptable, and future-ready.

Our expertise spans all aspects of library planning and design, from transforming an 87,000-square-foot big-box store into a destination library to creating the largest public genealogy library in the United States, the Midwest Genealogy Center. We have successfully led system-wide modernizations, such as the bond-funded improvement plan for Mid-Continent Public Library, delivering results despite economic and logistical challenges.

Beyond design, we actively support the library profession through leadership in the Kansas Library Association, Missouri Library Association, and Public Library Association. With nearly 40 years of experience in public architecture, our collaborative approach ensures that each library reflects the unique needs of its community. Whether modernizing an existing facility, expanding services, or developing a new vision, we partner with stakeholders to create engaging, sustainable, and innovative library environments that will serve generations to come.
