When engineering firm Toth and Associates outgrew their longtime Primrose Street location, they partnered with Sapp Design to reimagine a new headquarters in the heart of south Springfield. The project involved the complete transformation of a former corporate office at 1550 E. Republic Road—previously home to Netsmart and McKesson—into a vibrant, collaborative, and future-focused workspace.
With 109 employees and continued growth on the horizon, Toth required a space that could adapt to evolving team needs while reflecting the firm’s culture and energy. Sapp Design led the architectural visioning and interior renovation of 35,000 square feet, stripping the space to its core and rebuilding it from the ground up.
The design embraces transparency and connection, featuring an open-concept layout, perimeter offices with glass walls and exterior views, and communal spaces designed for gathering and collaboration. A full kitchen supports team meals and informal interaction, while local murals infuse the office with personality and a strong sense of place—highlighting Springfield landmarks and the firm’s multi-disciplinary identity.
This headquarters is more than just a place to work—it’s a hub for innovation, culture, and community. With room to grow and space available for future tenants, the building also supports long-term strategic flexibility for Toth’s ownership.
Despite pandemic-era delays, the project culminated in a “Back to the Future”-themed open house in 2022, a nod to both the journey from their past office and the forward-looking vision of their new home
