The Sarcoxie R-II School District was in serious need of an upgrade to their aged grandstands, gravel track, and grass football field. As plans for the upgrade began, it was apparent that the limited land owned by the school district was going to limit the options. When adjacent property became available, a vision for a new athletic complex was born. Support from the community and fundraising campaigns turned that vision into a reality.
With an additional 16 acres of land to work with, a master plan was developed for the complex to include four softball fields, a baseball field, parking, a new entrance drive, and a new track-and-field complex. The available budget required the complex to be phased, and phase 1 was completed in the fall of 2015.
The remaining phases of work will include paving the drive and parking lot, adding a new decorative entry gate to the complex, and eventually the completion of the softball complex for both school and community use.
