Mid-Continent Public Library has had an ongoing conversation with the Wonderscope Children’s Museum of Kansas City (WCM), about the potential of co-locating a branch library, and the Children’s Museum. Both groups realized they had similar missions, and WCM was interested in a location near the Red Bridge Branch. Discussions transpired to a joint workshop in June of 2016, and the second workshop in October, leading to Schematic Designs and cost estimates developed thru November, culminating in Preliminary Design Solution, that WCM will now use in their capital campaign.

Sapp Design has been involved in the early conversations and site visits in 2015. Sapp Design is excited about the prospects of this joint venture, and agree it offers a great opportunity for the public and patrons to benefit from both of these community and cultural services.

This co-location also provides an opportunity for improved facilities for both, as well as cost savings.
