We appreciate all of our donors, especially Sertoma Clubs, for their outstanding support, as well as our hard-working Boys &amp; Girls Clubs of Springfield Board of Directors and Club staff. \u201c\u2013 Boys &amp; Girls Club<\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s1\"><i>\u201cIt was a pleasure to be a part of this team.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span>We were a \u201cTeam\u201d from the start of construction through the punch work and the first day of school.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span>There was a job to be done.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span>Everyone accepted their roles and implemented their respective duties toward the successful completion with virtually no negativity.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span>I truly believe, in my thirty plus years in commercial construction, I feel fortunate to place this Team in my top \u201c3\u201d; and I\u2019d have to flip a coin to decide 1st, 2nd and 3rd.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span>\u2013 Laurie Luna, Bond Project Manager, Springfield Public Schools<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Project\u2019s contribution to community:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s1\">Southwest Springfield is continuing to grow, and the demand on the public school system is straining the capacity of existing facilities.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span>As a part of the 2013 bond issue, Springfield Public Schools decided to build a new elementary school to replace the small, overcrowded, out-of-date, and aging Sherwood Elementary school.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span>The new building increases the student capacity from around 260 to over 500 kids.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span>This allowed some redistricting to reduce overcrowding in other elementary schools in the area.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s1\">In addition to the contribution to the school system itself, Springfield Public Schools partnered with the Boys and Girls Club to establish a first-in-the-state relationship.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span>The Boys and Girls Club has 5500 square feet of dedicated space, and shares other spaces, such as the gym, art studio, music studio, media center, and cafeteria with the school.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>The new Sertoma Unit of the Boys and Girls Club is providing before and after school programs for up to 250 kids, as well as summer programs for the surrounding community.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span>There are only a handful of public school\/Boys &amp; Girls Club partnerships across the entire United States.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span>This partnership was made possible by a community that embraces collaboration and supports the mission of the BOYS &amp; GIRLS CLUBS OF SPRINGFIELD.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last Night Sapp Design Associates was honored and humbled to win the 2015 Project Team of the Year Award given by the Springfield Contractors Association.&nbsp; The Project Team of the Year Award is given to the most notable project of the year judged on the creativity, uniqueness, and&nbsp;complexity along with the&nbsp;cooperative efforts of the design [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":4,"featured_media":4395,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[24,21],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-3746","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-company-recognitions","category-news"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v24.4 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>2015 Project Team of the Year!
