West Plains Schools
Following several studies and community input to address overcrowding in several of the West Plains School District facilities, the District chose to pursue a major addition and renovations to the existing High School to create a new Senior High School Facility housing grades 10-12 and facilitating a shift of grades at all the Districts other facilities to ease overcrowding and facilitate future growth in the District.
This new major addition at the High School includes a New Performing Arts Center and Choir facilities, a new centralized Commons Area, Kitchen, Administrative Suite, Art Room, Gymnasium, and 2-Story Classroom Wing for Science, Engineering and Social Studies programs. Renovation of an existing structure to connect a new open Media Center to the Commons will facilitate use of the Central Commons as a collaborative learning space throughout the day. The New Addition and Renovations will encompass two separate existing High School buildings as well as provide a connection to the Junior High School, allowing dual use of some of the spaces. In addition, the project addressed the current security concerns with students having to go outside between classes and will provide interior accessibility between the multiple floor levels in the buildings. This project also includes new classroom additions and a new central Multi-Purpose Room, as well as a secured Entrance and Administrative Offices at one of the District’s Elementary Campuses.
