As a part of the Nixa 2014 Bond Issue, Nixa Public Schools commissioned the design and construction of two FEMA 361 designed additions. One at the High School and the other at their Junior High. The Junior High serves over 800 students and is situated within a vast residential neighborhood near the heart of Nixa. The occupancy calculation determined that the facility would need to serve nearly 2,200 people and be approximately 14,350 SF.
The facility consists of a large multi-purpose gymnasium with spectator seating for 500 and restrooms to serve, as well as, a wrestling gym and locker rooms. The building is designed with precast construction and painted with an elastomeric coating. The interior will consist of wood flooring in the gymnasium and acoustical panels suspended from the ceiling, as well as, placed on the walls.
