The Morgan County Library District’s vision was for a new community facility and to move from its 3,000 s.f. prior home for 80 years. The resulting design was a new 12,000 s.f. facility on Hwy 5 & 52 in Versailles, Missouri. The District desired a historically traditional building with a 21st century appeal that would serve as a community landmark for many years to come.Use of strong architectural elements both inside and outside with a rich warm color palette on the interior gives the facility an inviting atmosphere that has resulted in an outstanding increase in patronage by the community.
As stated by a visiting ‘friend of the library’, “This building is the Crown Jewel of Mid-Missouri.” The facility includes a Children’s Library featuring a sun washed Story Time Area, a Young Adult section, Fireside Reading areas, a large Community Room, Outdoor Adult reading patio and Computer Area.
